BIO

Corey Podell emerged from the swamplands of South Florida to attend Boston College where she continued to follow her life long interest of writing and performing.  Corey’s hobby turned into a passion after she was cast in the BC production of Vagina Monologues.  A few months after this show, Corey moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career while paying her bills by teaching special education.  

Since 2005, Corey has appeared in student films, industrials, and two pilots.  She just founded a new sketch group with her fellow Groundlings students called “3 Hole Punch” and their first show is January 12th, 2008 at the Fake Gallery on Melrose Ave.

Corey’s freelance writing career also took off in 2005 and she is now a regular contributor to Hollywood Weekly, The Jewish Journal, and JVibe magazines.  Corey also reviews movies, music and writes artists profiles for various websites – please check out her writing page for specifics!  

In addition, Corey has performed at various spoken word salons and essay readings across the city, like Wordplay and Chi Chi’s Word Parlor.  Corey will be performing at the Empty Stage Theater’s “I Love a Good Story” series in Winter 2008.  

Corey has studied with Daniel Henning, Sandra Merrill, Daisy White and currently takes classes at the Groundling Theater where she is working at thee Intermediate level.  

Corey attributes her creativity to her mother, an artist, and her tenacity to her father, a food distributor who both reside in Florida .
